The first thing you'll notice upon stepping inside is the delightful atmosphere. The interior is adorned with colorful pictures and an intriguing library, making it the perfect spot for book lovers and coffee connoisseurs alike. It's no wonder that customer Raymond Van Orsoy de Flines describes it as having a "great atmosphere"—there's an inviting vibe that encourages you to linger a little longer.

For serious coffee enthusiasts, The Activist serves up a range of expertly brewed options. Patrons rave about the Road Runner blend, praised by Marfi for its strong, bold flavor that tantalizes both the palate and the spirit. The café meticulously selects its beans, offering three distinct varieties that ensure each cup is a unique experience. The casual seating area invites you to sit back and relax, perhaps while flipping through one of the many books that adorn the shelves.

Let's not forget about the friendly staff—Jessica Ureste shares that they're always welcoming, which adds to the café's community feel. She also appreciates that the caramel syrup mixes beautifully, making for an unforgettable cup. As she notes, visiting The Activist isn't just about coffee; it's about the whole vibe. This café has quickly earned its spot as one of her favorite coffee shops in Auckland.

Excellent coffee stop for serious coffee drinkers, Try the Road Runner blend a strong bold full flavoured beans. Also a nice cosy setup and sitting area inside.

Close to my worksite, you can tell that this place is super chill. Old school look, and cool background music being played. - iced coffee with milk and shot if caramel 8.3/10 I like this combo. And the price is fair.

Really understated cafe and we saw of just stumbled across it this morning. They have three different coffee beans to choose from which works a lot better than the 10 different coffee types to drink (which all kinda taste the same). The coffee is amazing! My partner had a mocha which he said was the best coffee he'd had all year. I had a cappuccino which was perfection. There's a few options for food from the cabinet but it's just what's in the cabinet, which was fine. When we were there, they had filled bagels, filled croissants and a few sweet treats. We shared a salmon bagel and a ham bagel and they both were really good. The combination worked well and ours was toasted to perfection. So really, a winning breakfast for feeling miserable days! The backroom was something grand! When you walk in, there's all these musical instruments to play on (a few needing tuning) but there were percussion instruments, wind instruments, guitars, ukulele, and things I dont know the name of! They were also stacks of those old lead based books, along with paperbacks. So many different styles of writing and all inviting. Peculiar items like chess boards ( you have to see it to understand its peculiarity) and niknaks too. The service was very friendly and kind! The cafe doesn't look like it has it's own allocated parking but there was plenty of street parking.

Definitely one of my favorite coffee shops in Auckland. Unlike the date I met here, the coffee never leaves a bitter taste and is genuinely good! I love how the caramel syrup actually mixes well, and so far my favorite blend is the rapture. Perfection. The employees are always friendly too and the book selection is so varied.

Awesome local cafē. Very popular with locals and great coffee. Quirky and cute atmosphere inside and also nice to sit outside and watch the world go by… if you time it right and manage to score a seat. Small but very nice selection of cabinet food too. Hidden gem in the burbs.
